Pig farming

We develop environmental and process control systems for pig farms, tailored to the requirements of each stage, from farrowing to fattening.

Where the control of each variable has an impact on the result.

Pig farming requires different conditions at each stage of the cycle, often within the same building. Temperature, ventilation, humidity and air quality have a direct impact on the animals’ welfare, growth, health and the efficiency of the farm.

The challenges

In pig farming, each stage requires a different environment.

1
Environmental monitoring
2
Energy consumption
3
Animal welfare
4
Monitoring and automation
5
Reliability

Warmth for the piglet, coolness for the sow.

Areas with conflicting requirements, managed within the same system.

The piglet needs warmth, whilst the sow suffers from too much of it. The system adjusts each zone independently, without affecting the others.

Heat only where and when necessary.

Heating and ventilation tailored to actual needs.

Heating and ventilation account for the largest share of energy consumption in pig farming. Precise control prevents unnecessary expenditure without compromising the animals’ welfare.

Clean air and a stable temperature, every day.

Less thermal stress, less build-up of gases.

Accumulated gases and temperature fluctuations affect health and growth. Controlled air exchange maintains the quality of the environment throughout the entire cycle.

To find out what’s going on in each pavilion.

Continuous monitoring of the environment, water and food.

With the environment and processes monitored continuously, the producer makes decisions based on continuous data, in addition to spot checks.

Every fault is dealt with immediately.

Instant SMS alerts, at any time.

A ventilation failure in a crowded hall has consequences within a short space of time. The system carries out the programmed safety measures and immediately sends an alarm to those who need to take action.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Tecsisel’s solutions be adapted to an existing pig farm?

Yes. Each installation is tailored to the specific circumstances of the farm, whether it is a new facility or an existing pig farm. Where equipment is already in place, we assess what can be reused and integrated into the system, so as to focus investment on what makes a difference. The process always begins with an assessment, which identifies what can be retained, what needs replacing and what needs to be added.

In a packed arena, the minutes following a fault can mean the difference between a scare and a serious loss. When the system detects a power or equipment failure, it carries out the programmed safety measures and immediately sends an SMS alarm. Each alarm has its own designated recipients, ensuring the alert reaches those who need to take action, wherever they may be.

Yes. Maternity, rearing and fattening all have different requirements, and the system controls each zone independently. Heating can be concentrated in the piglet areas, whilst ventilation keeps the sows and fattening pigs within the appropriate temperature range. The parameters are set in consultation with the farmer, depending on the stage of production and the layout of the farm.

Yes. The conditions in each pavilion may be monitored remotely, and alerts are sent via text message wherever the farmer may be. This reduces the need for travel and enables a response to any anomaly before it affects the animals. In practice, the farm is under constant surveillance, 24 hours a day.

Yes. Our work continues once the system is up and running. We provide technical support, preventive maintenance and a response to service requests, to ensure the installation maintains its performance over time. As we designed the system, we know it inside out, which speeds up diagnosis and response whenever intervention is required.

Yes. Each system is designed on a project-by-project basis and can be expanded as the operation grows or its requirements change. New buildings, additional environmental control systems or new equipment are integrated into the existing installation. In this way, the initial investment keeps pace with the evolution of the operation.
